Wellness Grade 7
September/October/November
During the first three months of the school year, students are engaged in a unit of Physical Fitness. Students will begin training in the components of cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance-core, muscular strength and endurance-upper body, and flexibility. Students will utilize pre-test fitness scores to apply the  S.M.A.R.T. Goal concept to reach personal goals, both short-term and long-term. All students will participate in the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment by the end of November. The assessment includes:

Pacer Test - to measure cardio-respiratory endurance
Curl Up - to measure muscular strength & endurance lower body/core
Push Up - to measure muscular strength & endurance upper body
Sit and Reach - to measure flexibility
