Leslie Hubbard

Meet The Counselor

Hi, my name is Leslie Hubbard and I'm so excited to be joining Har-Bur Middle School as the 6th grade school counselor this year! My role here at Har-Bur involves supporting the personal, social, emotional, and academic growth and well-being of all students. My goal is to help students become more self-aware and compassionate towards others, to learn healthy coping strategies to manage the ups-and-downs of adolescence, and to develop positive relationships and support networks. I want students to leave middle school with a stronger sense of confidence, competence, connection, and resiliency by offering a safe, caring, non-judgmental space for them to share and simply be themselves. I will be going into the classroom to teach counseling lessons and will be meeting with students individually and in small groups throughout the year.

Before joining Har-Bur I was a school counselor at Avon Middle School as well as at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington. I have specialized training and expertise in grief and loss, suicide prevention, crisis intervention, mindfulness, and conflict mediation. In addition to my Masters in School Counseling (K-12), I have a Professional Counseling License and National Counseling Certification. I am also a former field hockey coach and Spanish teacher, having taught grades 4-12 in several CT private schools.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students and their families this year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or helpful updates.

                  About Me

When not at school I am most likely enjoying the outdoors with my 12 and 10year old sons, my 7year old daughter, and our sweet yellow lab. We spend a lot of time together exploring, learning new things, helping others, fostering rescue dogs, playing games, exercising and doing sports, traveling, baking, watching movies, and reading.
