Leslie Hubbard

Meet The Counselor

Hi, my name is Leslie Hubbard and I'm so happy to be guiding my 8th graders successfully towards the next big milestone in their lives - high school! My role here at Har-Bur involves supporting the personal, social, emotional, and academic growth and well-being of all students. My goal is to help students become more self-aware and compassionate towards others, to learn healthy coping strategies to manage the ups-and-downs of adolescence, and to develop positive relationships and support networks. I want students to leave middle school with a stronger sense of confidence, competence, connection, and resiliency by offering a safe, caring, non-judgmental space for them to share and simply be themselves. My passion is also building a strong sense of community. As a counselor and a Husky P.A.C. leader I work with students across all grades on school climate initiatives and activities to make our school a more fun and positive place to be. This year I will continue to get into the classroom, meet with students one-on-one and in small groups, and help them navigate the exciting path towards high school and beyond.

Before joining Har-Bur I was a school counselor at Avon Middle School and the Associate Director of Counseling at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington. I have specialized training and expertise in grief and loss, suicide prevention, crisis intervention, mindfulness, and conflict mediation. In addition to my Masters in School Counseling (K-12), I have a Professional Counseling License and National Counseling Certification. I am also a former field hockey coach and Spanish teacher, having taught grades 4-12 in several CT private schools.

I am looking forward to working with all of my students and their families this year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or helpful updates.
