Meet Mrs. Premus

My photo

Welcome to the 6th Grade Garnet Team!  My name is Mrs. Premus and I will be your Language Arts Writing teacher.  I am very excited to meet all of you and to be your writing coach! Sixth grade is such an exciting time in your life. Now, you will be able to switch classes, work with several amazing teachers, make new friends, and become part of a team.  The most important thing that I want you to learn this year is that each and every one of you is a unique and valuable human being. So you owe it to yourself to work hard and try your very best every day!

A long, long time ago....I graduated from Boston College, with a degree in Elementary Education. In fact, that's where I met my husband, Joe. We just celebrated our 28th anniversary this summer! After graduating in 1987, I began my teaching career at Lake Garda School, where I taught fourth and then fifth grade until March, 1995 when I left to have our first child, Julia (now 23). It was during those years at Lake Garda that I earned a Masters Degree in Educational Media from Central Connecticut State University. In October, 1996, our daughter, Olivia (now 21), arrived, followed by our son, Andrew (now 19), in August, 1999. After staying home to raise our 3 "babies" and working part-time for Southington Schools as a substitute, Farmington Schools as a Reading Tutor, and St. Dominic Church as a Religious Education Coordinator, I returned to Region 10 in 2010 to teach fifth grade at Har-Bur, on the Turquoise Team, where I stayed for 2 years. From 2012-2016, I taught 6th grade Language Arts on the Emerald Team and I have been teaching Language Arts on the Garnet Team since the fall of 2016.
