Wellness 6-8
Students in grades 6-8 have been working on increasing their muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardio-respiratory endurance, and flexibility. Students have been learning about and practicing the different CT Fitness tests that work on each fitness component: timed push-up, timed curl-up, PACER/mile, and sit and reach stretch. Throughout this unit students have participated in fitness test practice as well as different activities that increase these components. Students have been working to make connections between various types of exercises and the correct fitness component.

In addition to fitness testing students are learning about SMART goals. Students will have the opportunity to create their own SMART goal based on the fitness pre-test scores. Students will set a short-term SMART goal, working to achieve it by the fitness post-test as well as a long-term SMART goal working to achieve it by May.
