My name is Mrs. Shafer and I have been teaching in Region

#10, for 20 years. I began my career at Har-Bur Middle School, teaching 6th grade Social Studies, on the Emerald Team. For the next four years, I taught 5th grade at Lake Garda. Then, the year of redistricting, I chose to move to HCS where I continued to teach 5th grade, for seven years. Finally, the big merge of both schools, at Har-Bur, where all fifth graders are on two teams…Turquoise & Onyx!! I teach on the Onyx Team with Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Geissler and Mr. Reynolds. Our team is located on the first floor :)

A little bit about myself…my husbands name is Gordon and he is an extremely understanding and supportive spouse. I have three wonderful children! Megan lives in Burlington with her two sons, Ethan & Collin, Melissa and her husband live in New Hartford with their two sons, Flynn & Bodie, and my son Derek and his wife also lives in New Hartford. He is the owner of D&B Landscaping. 

I love teaching fifth graders and I'm committed to making 5th grade one of the best years of their educational career.
